About Goa
Goa is a tiny land on the west coast of India. Goa was liberated from Portuguese rule in 1961. It was part of Union territory till 30 May 1987 when it was made a separate State.
Goa covers an area of 3702 square kilometers and has two districts named North Goa and South Goa. Boundaries of Goa State are defined in the North Terekhol river which separates it from Maharashtra, in the East and South by Karnataka State and West by Arabian Sea. Goa lies in Western Coast of India and is 594 Kms (by road) away from Mumbai city.
Goa has a beautiful costline of around 125 km. Beaches in Goa are speckled with quaint little beach shacks that serve cold beer and spicy Goan cuisine. You can also avail water sports facilities that include water scooters to water gliding at beaches in Goa.
The beaches have been divided as north Goa Beaches and South Goa Beaches. The popular North Goa beaches which are known for its trance atmosphere is Candolim beach, Sinquerim Beach, Baga beach, Bambolim beach, Arambol beach and Vagator beach. The South Goa beaches are Benaulim Beach , Palolem beach, Agonda beach, Mobor beach and Cavelossim beach.

You are always assured to find an accommodation in Goa if not in a hotel at least a private house. However during peak season of December and January, most likely you shall experience problems, unless you book your hotels well in advance. From Christmas until the dawn of the New Year Goa will be in a festive mood and attracts thousands of visitors from around the world.
One of the most striking features of Goa is the harmonious relationship among various religious communities, who have lived together peacefully for generations. Though a late entrant to the planning process, Goa has emerged as one of the most developed States in India and even achieved the ranking of one of the best states in India with regards to investment environment and infrastructure.
